I was super-excited when I got an e-mail from Maddy Edwards sending me a copy of her new book Autumn. I wasn't expecting to hear about a new book from her for at least a few more months, since August just came out in December. Once I got past my initial confusion of having to distinguish between two six-letter words that begin with "Au," I downloaded it right away. (Seriously, I was staring at my Amazon search results for longer than I care to admit thinking, "Wait, none of these is new" before I realized that August and Autumn are two different words.) I have to give bonus kudos to anyone who can get a book out in three months, especially when the books are of the quality of the One Black Rose series.

I e-mailed Maddy and told her that I would review her book within the next couple of weeks, but by the time I got home from work, I was so excited to read it that I did so right away and wrote a review while it was still fresh in my mind. It's been awhile since I've been this excited to read a new release. I'm not sure exactly why I find Maddy Edwards's work so readable, but she and a few of the other authors I've read since I began my quest to review every self-published YA paranormal novel out there have introduced me to series that I am eager to read more of, which is something the traditional publishing world has not done for me in a while.

As for the book itself, I believe that I liked Autumn the best of the series. I felt like I had a good sense of what all the characters wanted and how they were feeling. Well, except Carley, but I don't think even she knows what she's thinking half the time. We even get into Samuel's head a little, at long last. Autumn is rather petulant for a lot of the book, often in cases where she would be wise to keep her mouth shut, but given what's going on with her life, I can't say she's being all that unreasonable.

I'm pretty sure that Autumn is the last book in the series, and I really liked the ending, though I had no expectation that it would turn out in a satisfactory manner. I went back and reread the last five pages at least five times. The way a series ends is important to me, and even though I'm a little disappointed that there won't be any more books in the series, I am glad that I have a good feeling of closure around the story. Of course, in the event that I am wrong, I will happily read more.

Autumn One Black Rose Book 3 eBook Maddy Edwards Reviews

I am really hoping that this was not the end of Holt. If I had read the end of this book I would have not read the other two. Great story, but I'd rather an ending with Holt winning.
I really enjoyed reading the whole series. It was a quick read.
I really enjoyed this series, presuming this is the last book, and I hated to see it end. I really enjoyed the characters and I loved the ending of this book. This is one of those series you can read that will take you away from where you are and let you be somewhere else for a while. She truly did a great job writing this and you feel for the characters and cheer for them. This author is very talented and I will definately keep an eye out for future books from her.
Who would have guessed a series regarding fairies could be so amazing! This is the third book in the black rose series. I am in love with the ending of this book I could not believe it. It all came together and made me feel warm, sad, happy and exciting all at the same time. I find Maddy Edwards to be a wonderful new writer and I am excited to read more of her work! You need to read all three books just so you can read the ending of Autumn! Fall in love like I did.
This series is really cute.. I love Samuel and am rooting for him!!! At times I find myself EXTREMELY frustrated with Autumn ughhh her blind stupidity gets annoying. But isn't that signs of a great read? Books you find urself falling into? So I would definitely recommend this series. Cannot wait to read the next one 😀
Loved it! The action started from the first page and didn't let go until the very last page. I was so absorbed in this book that I barely came up for air. I devoured it in a half a day.

There was so much more going on in this book than the previous ones. The fairies become an integural part of the story and their real life is revealed.

Again, Susan and Samuel are a great support system in this book. Autumn grows closer to them every day. She was trying to do everything the Supreme Council told her too, but people kept meddling.

I cried so much in this third book. It was gripping. More than ever, I loved the series and wish Autumns story didn't end with this book.

I can't wait to read Susan's story in book four though. This book deserves it's five glittery stars for a mind blowing read. Check the series out ASAP!
Spoiler alert sorry. What kind of crap is that why would one fairy couple get together and fall in love just for one to die like that and other to end up with person destined to be with anyway. Yea i know tragedy happens blah blah and power struggles and creating drama blah but damn not happy about that ending. The rest of book and the 2 previous books were great i could not put them down. Also know concept of losing something or someone makes a person stronger but still not happy... I'd rather person be forced to be with other prince rather than one having to die or course the cliche saying better to have loved and lost than never loved at all.
